TRINIDAD, HUMBOLDT COUNTY — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL. Trinidad’s official Planning Commission directory lists three seats with terms expiring in December 2026: those held by Aaron Hakenen, Richard Johnson and Christopher Slay. Two other listed seats have terms continuing through December 2028.
What residents should know
The five-member commission reviews land-use policy, proposed development and coastal development issues as allowed by municipal law. The City Council appoints commissioners.
The approaching term expiration provides an opportunity for residents to follow possible recruitment and appointment decisions. A listed expiration date does not by itself prove that all three seats are vacant or that the city has opened a new application window.
People interested in serving should ask the City Clerk for eligibility, deadline, application form and interview process. The city lists 707-677-0223 as its contact number.
Commission work can affect how Trinidad balances coastal conservation, housing, visitor activity and neighborhood needs. Public participation should be informed by actual city agendas and application materials.
